Like It Or Not

Is this the end of the “Like” era?

We all have felt that urgency to feel accepted by others and the need to feel part of something bigger than ourselves.  Being “Liked” or accepted, is what human beings have strived for since the beginning of time. Until now there have been many ways for one to understand that he or she is being accepted on a social level. Although today, with the rise of social media, being “Liked” has become more of a statistic than anything else.

As you might have heard Instagram plans to take down the “Like” option on people’s content. This rule will be implemented for all users, including social media influencers, who base most of their work and progress from their followers ‘Likes” and shares.

Now we can completely understand why influencers and users alike can fear the day the “Like” function goes away. It’s because we know when we post something on social media we will form some type of response.  It’s understandable that people who earn a living through social media would be completely against the end of the “Like” era. Although we believe that this brave action can save social media and earn more money for social media influencers in the long run.

Social media entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk, claimes that the like button “ limited peoples creativity, and expansion of people’s horizons”. He believes getting rid of the “Like” button will only cause content to become more creative, and will grant the opportunity for users to progress a lot quicker🔗. The reason for this is because when we constantly build for the like in our content, we tend to be repetitive and take less risks with our followers. When the like barrier is down, it grants us the ultimate freedom to create original content with less fear of social acceptance.

So we say hold on to your caps, and let’s see where this ride takes us. Let’s see if we are entering the golden age of social media content.
